TAIPEI -- The government is expected to end state monopoly in production of
tobacco and alcohol products after Taiwan joins the World Trade
Organization, Commercial Times reports. The government previously planned to
end the monopoly in July but was forced to put it off, in part because a
related bill hasn't been passed by the Legislature, the paper adds.
