Union demands smoking ban for restaurants

The Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Union now demand a complete ban on
smoking in restaurants, diners, cafes and other places where food is
served.
The politicians must now remove all exceptions from the law, which up to
now has made it possible to smoke on these premises, union leader Jens
Hoel says to the Labour Press Office.
He believes that the turnover at restaurants would actually increase,
because a complete ban on smoking would lead non-smokers to go out to eat.
The main reason for the union's demand is the health risk to serving
staff, due to guests smoking.
