Greetings!

Infact and NATT are pleased to announce the release of the FCTC
Ratification Campaign Handbook. The Handbook is designed to facilitate
the work of NGOs across the globe as we push for the FCTC=92s
implementation. It includes:
- background on the FCTC
- tips and tools for developing campaign strategies
- insight into the precedents the FCTC sets for other dangerous and
deadly industries
- information on the treaty ratification process in dozens of countries

The Ratification Handbook is available in English, Spanish and French on
our website www.infact.org. We recognize the tobacco industry=92s ongoing
attempts to stall the treaty and therefore the website is protected with
a username and password. For information on how to access the
Ratification Campaign Handbook online, please email stacey@infact.org
and I will respond promptly.

We encourage the widespread use and distribution of the organizing tools
provided in the handbook, and ask you to let us know how it is being
used in your country. To facilitate the reproduction of the organizing
tools provided in the Ratification Campaign Handbook, we can also email
you the Microsoft Word version.

As you know, tremendous momentum is building around the world toward the
swift implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control
(FCTC). Congratulations to Norway, Fiji, Malta, Seychelles and Sri Lanka
who have already ratified and to the seventy-seven countries who have
signed this groundbreaking treaty! We only need 35 more countries to
ratify before the FCTC is binding international law.

The FCTC will save millions of lives and change the way tobacco giants
like Philip Morris (now Altria), BAT and Japan Tobacco International
(JTI) operate globally. The FCTC also establishes important precedents
for international regulation of other dangerous and deadly industries
such as the agribusiness, oil, pharmaceuticals, water and weapons
industries.

Together we have made tremendous progress. Now, by working toward
ratification in countries all across the globe, we can rein in Big
Tobacco=92s deadly abuses! We look forward to hearing from you today with
your request for the FCTC Ratification Campaign Handbook!

Onward,
