Question of the Month - September 2003
**************************************
Dear Friends,
Rick Bernardo*, a GPTC participant based in Minnesota, USA, is
developing a book on "The Spiritual Battles Behind the Tobacco War."
Rick would very much like to collect personal anecdotes from GPTC
participants worldwide, for possible inclusion in his book.
Note from Rick: While the book does not promote one particular religion,
it does intend to chart a fundamental region of human experience that is
employed widely and reflected deeply in our work: the larger moral
landscape and "soul" of it. At the same time, the intent is to spur and
support religious institutions and people of conscience in taking a
stand. I invite you to speak from the heart.
SEPTEMBER'S QUESTION: How is your stand on community, national, and/or
global tobacco issues a moral, ethical, or spiritual matter -- that is,
having to do with core values, compassion, conscience, community,
courage, or matters of the heart? As part of this, share, if you would,
an experience which either:
a) awakened and brought home to you the depth or significance
of tobacco-related issues, or
b) touched, moved, and inspired you to take a stand to reduce
the suffering fostered by tobacco trade?
As always, share your answer with your partner if you have one, and send
a copy to Essential Action. Deadline: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2003
Have an idea for a future "Question of the Month"? Let us know!
Best wishes,
Anna
