Question of the Month - June 2003

Dear Friends,

Essential Action's Global Partnerships for Tobacco Control program has
been in existence for nearly three years now.  It's about time we had a
logo.  Our plan is to come up with a design that we will officially
unveil at the 12th WCTOH, our 3 year anniversary.  And guess what: we
would like YOU to help come up with an appropriate design.

JUNE'S QUESTION: What suggestions do you have for a GPTC logo?  In
particular, we are interested in simple graphics that capture one or
more of the following themes:

     * International solidarity
     * Resistance to the tobacco industry's global expansion
     * People over profits
     * Taking action!
     * Sharing, exchange
     * People power and empowerment
     * Truth
     * Health and life vs. death and disease
     * Anything else that you feel symbolizes the spirit and
     purpose of GPTC

We realize that this is a lot to incorporate in a single logo! The logo
we eventually come up with may be a composite of many of your
suggestions.  You can submit as many ideas as you want -- all ideas are
welcome, the more the better -- in whatever form suits you best: 1) A
short description. 2) A basic sketch. 3) A professional graphic. Keep in
mind that the image should be black/white and simple in nature, i.e.
recognizable when reduced to a small size. Note: this is an excellent
assignment to pass on to youth who you work with.
