USPTO to Sponsor Panel Discussion on Proposals to
Improve Patent Examination

Washington, D.C. =96 The United States Patent and Trademark Office
(USPTO) is holding a town hall meeting to educate the public on
USPTO=92s plans to streamline the application review process.  A four-
person panel representing a variety of organizations with interests
in the patent system will offer their views on the proposals which
are designed to ensure high quality patent examination and work
toward decreasing the backlog of pending applications.

An overview of the challenges the USPTO faces and the reasons why
proposed new rules limiting claims and rework are necessary, panel
discussion and a question and answer session.
