[Ecommerce] EU gets first foreign application for a protected denomination of origin

European Union. Commission receives first foreign application for a
protected denomination of origin

On 08 June 2005, the Commission received a first application for
registration of a protected denomination of origin (PDO) in the EU
Register coming from a third State. The "Federaci=F3n Nacional de cafeteros
de Colombia" applied for the registration of "Caf=E9 de Colombia" in the
Community Register. If the application meets all requirements and no
objections are notified, the PDO will receive EU-wide approval.

This application arrives soon after a panel report upheld that EU system
of geographical indications and PDO was compatible with WTO rules
