Cabinet gives nod to join Wipo convention

DOHA: The Prime Minister, H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani,
presided over the regular weekly Cabinet meeting held at its seat at the
Emiri Diwan yesterday.

The Cabinet then considered items on its agenda and took the following
decisions thereon:

n Firstly, to approve the draft patents law;

n Secondly, to endorse the Civil Services Affairs and Housing minister=92s
decision to approve the registration and the public proclamation of Al
Khaleej (Gulf) studies centre society.

n Thirdly, to approve the ministry of Wakfs and Islamic affairs proposal
on the amendment of the Cabinet decision No (3) of the year 2004 on the
formation of the board of directors of Al-Zakt Fund.

n Fourthly, to host the third round of consultations for the seventh
replenishment of the international fund for agricultural development
(Ifad) resources.

n Fifthly, agreed to join the following:

A: The World Intellectual Property Organisation (Wipo) convention for
copyright.

B: The Wipo treaty on performances and sound-recordings. Sixthly, to
endorse an economic, trading and technical cooperation agreement between
the government of Qatar and government of Azerbaijan.
