FYI: Copyrightlaws.com online courses on Copyright. US course start today.

Since 2002, Copyrightlaws.com has been offering online courses on
copyright law and licensing. There are currently 4 courses being offered:
The Basics:
1.Canadian & International Copyright Law =96 an 8 week course that will
provide you with a foundation of Canadian copyright law, some
international issues, and digital copyright issues. Begins week of May
1, 2005.
2.U.S. Copyright Law =96 an 8 week course that is a primer on U.S.
copyright law, including digital issues. Begins week of March 7, 2005.
Advanced Courses***:
1.Managing Copyright Issues =96 an 8 week course divided into five
digestible sections: General Management Issues like centralizing
copyright management, understanding copyright principles, digital
copyright issues, global copyright, and valuing copyright; Using
Copyright Materials like copyright risk management and permissions
procedures; Licensing; Protecting Copyrights including performing a
copyright audit; and, Advanced Management Issues like developing a
written copyright policy, ongoing copyright education and a checklist
for managing your copyright issues. Begins week of March 7, 2005.
2.Digital Licensing =96 a 9 week course that examines: licensing
arrangements generally; what uses of works can be made through a
licensing agreement; sublicenses and secondary rights; moral rights;
compensation; duration of a licensing agreement; who owns what;
revocation of rights in certain circumstances; credits; and warranties
and indemnities. Tips on negotiating and valuing copyright works is
also discussed in this course. Begins week of May 1, 2005.
***The advanced courses include an exclusive list serv during the
duration of the course for ongoing discussions of the issues and your
particular questions.
