Statement of Intent on Substantive Patent Law harmonisation published
Participants at an 'exploratory meeting' held at the United States
Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to discuss the future of Substantive
Patent Law harmonisation adopted a Statement of Intent on 3-4 February 2005=
.
According to the Statement, in order to achieve a common basis for
further discussions at the World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO), at future meetings the participants agree to consider: 1) the
substantive patent law harmonisation issues as set forth within the
Trilateral 'first package' (WO/GA/31/10) and 2) issues with regard to
intellectual property and development, including proposals for the WIPO
Development Agenda and proposals relating to genetic resources.
