European Union. Expert report finds risk of European digital divide
still exists
More EU citizens are now using information and communication
technologies (ICTs), according to a new report on the digital divide by
the European Commission and Member State experts. However, EU-25 wide
average Internet access is still only 41%, with a marked difference
between States with over 50% access in Nordic countries, the Netherlands
and the UK, to around 21% in Portugal and Greece. Access in certain
candidate countries is even lower.
