Thanks to Cindy Cohn (EFF), we can mark our calendar (or start waiting
in line now?)

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios v. Grokster: oral argument on March 29, 2005

Complaint from the United States District Court of Central California.

Are companies offering non-centralized file sharing software and
services liable for copyright infringement?

The U.S. Appeals Court for the 9th Circuit ruled in Grokster=92s favor on
Aug. 19, relying on the 1984 case involving Sony=92s Betamax video
cassette recorder (in that case manufacturers were not liable for
copyright infringement if their products had substantial non-infringing
uses).
