Dear colleagues,
The Netherlands National Commission for UNESCO has invited "some people"
"to participate in an international conference =93Internet, Human Rights
and Culture=94 in Oegstgeest, The Netherlands, on Friday 4 and Saturday 5
February 2005.
Theme and timing of the conference are connected to the project =93Human
Rights and the Rule of Law in the Information Society=94 that is currently
being carried out by the Council of Europe.
This is a Dutch initiative and will result in a recommendation on human
rights and the information society, to be adopted by the Council of
Ministers in May 2005. This recommendation will be a major input of the
Council in the Tunis phase of the World Summit on the Information
Society (WSIS) in 2005.
The meeting in February will offer recommendations to enrich and
strengthen the instrument of the Council of Europe, especially on topics
that are important to UNESCO in relation to the WSIS, such as human
rights and cultural diversity in the digital domain".
If you have an agenda, I'd be interested.
Manon
