Is your photocopying lawful?
Changes to UK copyright law are about to toughen the rules for the use 
of photocopiers by businesses, introducing new charges where documents 
are copied for commercial research. The changes will be a result of the 
EU Copyright Directive.

Web site navigation covered by US patent
A US telco and ISP holds a patent that it considers gives it the 
exclusive right to a common form of web site navigation. It appears to 
expect businesses to pay it up to 5% of their annual revenue in 
licensing fees.

Consultation on EU law for contractual disputes
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the Rome 
Convention of 1980 which exists to clarify whose laws apply in the event 
of a cross-border contractual dispute where there is a choice between 
the laws of different countries.
