Thanks to Jonathan Fanklin for pointer to ABA's Cyberspace Committee, I
thought details of the agenda would be interesting to some of you.
See: http://www.abanet.org/buslaw/cyber/meetings.html#agenda
ABA's Cyberspace Law Committee in Atlanta, Georgia January 24th-25th,
2003. There is no registration fee for attending the Winter Working
Meeting but you have to register with Alanna Sullivan (312-988-6187,
sullivaa@staff.abanet.org.

Electronic Commerce Subcommittee Co-Chairs:
        Jamie Clark (jbc@lawyer.com) and
        Juliet Moringiello (Juliet.M.Moringiello@law.widener.edu)
Electronic Contracting Practices Working Group. Browse-wrap Project.
Can "browse-wrap" agreements - terms and conditions posted without a
click to agree process - be enforceable contracts? The working group
will continue its analysis, including reports on research undertaken
since the 2002 Annual Meeting.
Project Leaders: John Ottaviani (jottaviani@ealaw.com) and
                             Elaine Ziff (eziff@skadden.com)
Consumer Protection Working Group. E-Disclosures. The Working Group
will compile materials to offer guidance about electronic disclosure of
notices/information required to be provided to consumers.
Project Leaders: Jean Braucher (braucher@nt.law.Arizona.edu) and
                             Mark Budnitz (mbudnitz@gsu.edu)

Global E-Commerce Policy Subcommittee
    Co-Chairs:
        Hal Burman (HalBurman@aol.com) and
        John Gregory (John.D.Gregory@jus.gov.on.ca) Designing the
UNCITRAL Convention on E-Contracts. E-Contracts: Where to put them -
their own convention? A separate part of CISG? a mix? What are they -
consumer contracts? Contracts for services? Questions of location (not
to be confused with jurisdiction - how can you tell when an
e?transaction is international so that the convention applied (or can be
opted into)? A draft UNCITRAL document will be available for review
prior to the meeting. Virtual Goods and the UNCITRAL Convention. What
are virtual goods, for practical and legal purposes, and can UNCITRAL do
something useful? Coping with EU Directives. For those who were taken
by surprise by the demands of the Privacy Directive (and even for those
who weren't). What are the most important provisions of recent or
upcoming EU Directives that affect e?commerce? What do your clients need
to do to respond to them, and what do you need to put in your agreements
to comply, or avoid?

Jurisdiction Project
    Project Leader:
Michael Geist (mgeist@uottowa.ca) Jurisdiction II. The
"Jurisdiction II" team will work on developing the global jurisdiction
survey, and its methodology, to examine the practical effects of
Internet jurisdiction issues on companies worldwide. The survey will be
designed for completion by in?house counsel and their advisors. It will
seek to identify when Internet jurisdiction issues emerge as serious
concerns for companies operating online and which issues pose the
greatest concern. With a global perspective, the survey will assess
differences between jurisdictions and business sectors to gauge whether
government policy concerns match the needs of corporations.
