5TH CIRCUIT RULES NO NET JURISDICTION WHERE NO TARGETING
The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a lower court
decision to refuse to assert jurisdiction over a posting on
an Internet chat board hosted by Columbia University. The
court held that there was no evidence that the posting
targeted the State of Texas or that the author was even
aware that the subject was resident in the state. Case name
is Revell v. Lidov. Decision at

POLL FINDS USERS WANT ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION
A new poll from Harris Interactive finds that nearly 75% of
respondents favor making spam illegal. 96% of respondents
said they find spam annoying.

BRITISH COLUMBIA TO CONSIDER NEW NET CONSUMER LEGISLATION
The Province of British Columbia has launched a public
consultation on new consumer protection legislation.
Included in the package are rules on consumer e-commerce
