To interested representatives of industry, academia, labor, consumer groups,
etc.:

The State Department's Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy
(ACIEP), not to be confused with the Department's Advisory Committee on
International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP), is forming a
new working group devoted to the Global Information Economy. Please read
the attached notice concerning the formation of this working group that is
soliciting the participation of interested persons. (I will serve as the
Executive Secretary of the GIE Working Group in addition to my position as
Executive Secretary of the ACICIP.)

While one's attendance at the full ACIEP Committee meetings is NOT essential
to ones participation in the GIE Working Group Meetings, I wanted to let
everyone know that the next ACIEP Committee meeting will take place on
Tuesday, June 13, 2000 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 1107 of the State
Department at 2201 C Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. That meeting will be
hosted by the ACIEP Committee Chairman R. Michael Gadbaw and Undersecretary
of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs Alan P. Larson.

For further information about the full ACIEP Committee meeting, please
contact Carol Thompson of the ACIEP Secretariat. She may be reached at
<thompsonce@state.gov>. In addition, if you are interested in attending the
ACIEP Committee meeting, please provide Ms. Thompson with your name, title,
affiliation, social security number, date of birth, and citizenship. On
June 13, all attendees who have registered must enter the State Department
building by the 23rd Street entrance and have a photo ID for entering the
State Department building.

Thank you.
