This is a draft sign-on letter for ICANN. I would appreciate criticsm
or comments, including suggestions on how this could be made less "USA"
in style. Jmaie
Dear Esther Dyson:
This is a letter to express our interest in working with ICANN
for the establishment of one or more top level domains that would
be used for criticism of companies, or to organize customers in
regulatory proceedings, representing the consumer interest.
Possible top level domains would include:
.critics
.complaints
.sucks
.customers
We are discussing possible mechanisms to allocate such domains to
users. It would be our intention that these top level domains
would sometimes be used in connection with well known trademarks,
but in ways that would not confuse consumers, because of nature
of the top level domain. For example: nike.critics or
bellatlantic.customers, would be appropriate uses of these top
level domains.
We propose a series of meeting on top level domains for civil
society, to discuss this issue further, and would like to meet
with ICANN staff to discuss these ideas.
Sincerely,
