I would reckon that HCL is much less likely to destroy the active part of a 
drug molecule while still giving the molecule what the drug designer is 
looking for from an acid salt, namely water solubility.

Nitric and sulfuric acids are more likely to attack the backbone of the 
molecule. (Instead of just a lose proton or two as is the case with HCL.)
