What do you guys think of the argument that Kennedy prolonged the cold
war by a generation by making Krushchev seem to publicly back down when
in fact it was a swap of cuban missiles for turkish missiles which
Kennedy insisted be kept quiet as part of the deal (this came out
recently)? When Krushchev lost power not so long later, it was a
decisive moment in history that may well have been influenced by the
loss of face experienced.....
