[Am-info] Novell to acquireSUSE. :(

Hi all,

Regardless of Fred's frown, I see this as a positive step. It further
validates Linux; of note is the second part of the piece, that IBM is
investing $50 million in Novell. I did a lot of work out in Provo, and I'm
happy for Novell. They are one of the last innovators left that M$ has not
stolen from enough to bankrupt. The Novell folks are ethical, bright, and
have spun off numerous firms in the Salt Lake Area and much like M$, created
a lot of wealth. Too bad Eric went to Google, but I think he lost his
ability to innovate a while ago; more so he's resting on his laurels in my
opinion. He seems to move to companies right as they're ready to go public
and then cashes out; can't say I don't envy his timing, but not his ethics.

Anyway, I say "huzzah" for Novell, and it may give them the edge to truly
get back in the game.

Hope everyone's well!

Jeff Wasel
