Without a complete redesign of their "operating system" [if
that's what you call it], MS security will never happen.
My embedded comments, below.

See:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3220017.stm

"Microsoft said the new version will have better
security, make it easier to organise and find files
and need to be restarted much less often." [Right-o, --E.A.]

[...]

"Bill Gates said that Longhorn will have a unified
storage system called WinFS. This will use
web-derived technology to make it possible to
search for and categorise any type of file with just
one system instead of separate ones for every
application.

["web-derived technology"? Code words for usurping
the W3C to 'embrace, extend, and extinguish'. Also, you'll
need an a new 8-GHz CPU with built-in 1 TByte storage. --E.A.]

"Such a flexible system would be needed, said Mr Gates,
because in the future people are likely to generate 'oceans'
of information that they will need to search through quickly. ..."

[In other words, 'oceans' is desirable, no tools, methods or
architecture for reduction and efficiency. --E.A.]
