Big news from Geneva this week as the UN wraps up plans for the first
World Summit on the Information Society. High on the list of priorities
for WSIS is an action plan requiring governments to back Open Source
Software so that more countries can cross the digital divide. Spurred
on by the U.S. Commerce Dept., the U.S. delegation is attempting to
water down the UN Action Plan while Microsoft's pet lobbying group
muses about a cataclysmic counterstrike using the WTO. Learn more as we
