There is a discussion going on right now in the
news.admin.net-abuse.email Usenet group called "Mainsleaze:

It's interesting and alarming to see the number of people who
apparently feel that it's OK for Microsoft to e-mail addresses they
have from any product registration whatsoever (including Macintosh
Internet Explorer 4) about the latest Windows security hole.  That
does fit in pretty well with Microsoft's efforts on the anti-spam
legislative front where "some spam is more equal than others."
