NEVER be optimistic when IBM is involved.

IBM has a track record of surrendering when the going gets a bit rocky.

They have betrayed their users,  their business partners and the customers of
their partners in the past.  They betrayed the entire computing industry.
They gave Microsoft its monopoly.

What IBM received in return for this betrayal is still unknown.

There is no reason to assume that they won't betray us all again.
