SCO vs. IBM: Lengthy battle will hurt Linux

SCO yesterday revoked IBM's license to sell AIX, raised its ante to $3 bill=
ion=20
in damages, and requested that a judge permanently block Big Blue's Unix
business. Yet the biggest threat to IX (Unix/Linux) may not lie in the=20
ultimate merits of SCO's case. The big enemy is time: A permanenent=20
injunction could take years, and in this highly competitive, fast-changing=
=20
industry, most companies can't afford to place bets on technology with an=20
uncertain future. If not Linux, then what? Sun and Microsoft are standing b=
y.
