Ballmer to customers: DRM will rule
Corporate data protection and antipiracy locks are at the core of Microsoft's
future and are the future of business, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer wrote in
a Wednesday e-mail to customers. Open-source advocates worry that Microsoft's
broader "Trustworthy Computing" campaign, which would involve authenticating
software programs as well as documents and media files, is in part aimed at
pushing software like Linux out of the market.
