I saw something, I think funnier -- at least in its animation -- on a TV
ad today. If you haven't seen it yet, I hope you will.
It was an ad for a Compaq laptop. It starts out with "Daddy" having
fits, yelling and screaming and whacking his laptop PC keyboard
(Ctrl-Alt-Del, maybe?...because it seemed that had failed him, too).
Then the camera pans outside the house where some youngish kids are
on their bicycles and were looking back into the picture window to
witness Daddy's frustrations. Daddy is still having fits. The kids are
looking at each other and watching him with some kind of contagious
disbelief.
The ad is about buying a newer/better/faster laptop, but [to me] it was
about a piece of crap that didn't work for him, and about another newer
[piece of crap] laptop that will fare no better.
Let's guess about what operating system was on these laptops!
It was a real, really, rare belly laugh.
Isn't it amazing -- the depths that "Madison Avenue" will sink to
for a buck!
