Time for yet another conspiracy theory?

Yahoo! SBC DSL forces Mac users to browse with Internet Explorer

Our recent coverage of Yahoo's decision to needlessly block Mac users
out of some sections of its Web site has generated a flurry of debate,
and exposure of strange limitations.

For instance, Yahoo's SBC DSL "Upgrade" requires the use of Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. When attempting to access the service
with another browser - including Safari, Mozilla and others - users are
presented with the message:

"Setup has detected a browser that is not currently supported. Your
computer must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher to proceed
with SBC Yahoo! DSL Activation.

"Please upgrade your version of Internet Explorer or order an SBC
Yahoo! DSL CD which includes the Internet Explorer upgrade.

The page then links to a download for Internet Explorer. Oddly,
abstaining from this "upgrade" allows users to continue browsing with
the application of their own choice.
