I'm interested by the following real-world consequence of this attack:

The worm that crippled tens of thousands of computers worldwide and 
congested the network for countless others, even disabling Bank of 
America cash machines, took advantage of a vulnerability in some 
Microsoft Corp. software that had been discovered in July.




I wonder if BOA is using MS-SQL themselves or if some other system 
was simply broken by the flood of traffic.
