Lies, damn lies and consultants.
Thank you, great read. If there really were any semblance of justice
left in the Department of (IN)Justice in these United States, it
would be worth forwarding on the them as evidence that M$ does continue
with monopoly building and maintaining practices to this very day.
But as M$ IS JUSTICE, in our dark hours under the Shrub, you shouldn't
waste the effort.
That M$ stooges (excuse me, sales/consulting reps)
1) don't know the difference between LINUX and any other non-MS OS
does not surprise me,
2) that they would supply TCO numbers from fantasy land does not
surprise me,
3) that they would argue that LINUX is "inherently insecure,
unreliable", does not surprise me - ('insecure'? are these
'consultants' certified digital psychoanalysts?),
4) that they would represent their own swisscheese products as 'secure'
and 'reliable' or even relatively so, with the phrase "long-time
proven" does not surprise me,
5) but that they would offer to supply flatly 'free' software licenses,
and future guarantees of 'free' licenses, does surprise me, at least
until I stop and consider that nothing was offered in writing.
And that opportunity for 'anon' to get their offer in writing, whether
he would ever seriously consider it or not, was a missed opportunity
to provide further evidence of M$'s continued monopoly practices.
Damn. Would have been nice, and would have demonstrated to his company
that he had considered all the options before submitting a complete
report on his decision making process. And would provide a basis for
combating future M$ PR/sales assaults on his company and his job.
Ah well, thanks again for the headsup on the article.
