From one of the Apple rumor sites, but interesting nonetheless:

Internet Explorer dumped at MWSF

Although more than half a dozen web browsers are actively being developed,
Macintosh users have long yearned for a browser that is, at the very
least, equal to its Windows counterpart. For years, Apple endorsed
Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE). That's changing.

Apple's endorsement of IE was largely due to contractual agreements.
However, now that the much publicized Microsoft relationship is expired,
one insider claims that Apple plans to officially support a web browser
that "does not involve Microsoft."

"[Apple wants to] break away from MS, in every area," (emphasis ours) says
the purported insider.

Publicly available information clearly points to the likely candidate,
Chimera.

Still in its infancy, Chimera was named the browser of choice at this year'
s WWDC. And this July, Apple snapped up the project's lead programmer,
David Hyatt.

If the rumors are true, Apple is scheduled to make an announcement
regarding their new browser of choice at the coming Macworld San Francisco.
