Its been a long time, but Honeywell was bought out by Group Bull in 1987.
As far as I can recall, Group Bull was a consortium of European companies
and governments, so perhaps that was the impetus for the EU involvement.
They also owned Packard-Bell (is that still around?), part of NEC and
Zenith Data Systems. Not sure if they still own any of these, or part of
these. Seems IBM at one time owned a stake in Group Bull also. For a
