What do you mean by saying they are an EU company? Their
headquarters is in the US, and as far as I can trace the corporate
lineage both Honeywell and AlliedSignal (which bought Honeywell) are
American companies:

The second article notes that Canadian regulators had approved the
deal, so it looks like there were at least three sets of regulators
involved and only two companies (in which case countries where the
company is not headquartered still appear to have some power).
