Well the $4.44 per share figure is correct if indeed Microsoft has the $40 billion in
cash. Microsoft has almost no tangible assets other than cash. They do have that ugly
"campus" building complex in Redmond, but that's about it.
So take the tangible assets divided by the number of shares and you get what's called
"book value."
For MSFT, the book value is about $4.44 per share.
