Here's a story about Microsoft's great loss leader, the Xbox:-

It estimates that Microsoft is losing $200 per unit, which means that 
sales of 5M could create a loss of $1Bn :-)...


I did hear that the Xbox is quite highlt specced and that you could run 
Linux on one, so I am very tempted to do my bit to help Bill Gates sell as 
many Xboxes as he can. AIUI, the Xbox includes a DVD player, so it may be 
worth getting one just for that.

Interestingly, I believe that you can now even get a version of Linux for 
Sony PS2s!
