It's funny.  I'm a huge Bond fan, and I used to always scoff at how
financially unrealistic some of the doomsday scenarios were.  The first
thing I thought of when I read the above line was "Moonraker."[1]

I mean, we now have a company with the financial means to do this.  I
guess I can't scoff at Bond villains anymore.

[1] I'm not sure if everyone here has seen the movie, but basically this
unbelievably wealthy guy who runs the company that builds the space
shuttle for NASA is apparently a eugenicist who wants to remodel the
world with a smaller population of the best of humanity.  Or something
like that.  Anyway, in the course of accomplishing this evil plan, he
needs 6 space shuttles.  Which I thought was ridiculous.  Microsoft
could almost afford to build 6 and their associated launch support
locations...  a real plot summary can be found at
