http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/security/Advisories.html

and

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/

are updated daily, and quite accurate in my experience. I'm sure Trend
Micro, McAfee and the other firewall/anti-virus vendors have similar
services.

As for a mailing list, I didn't see a subscriber facility on the Symantec
site. You may have to be a corporate customer to get such a thing. However,
poke around the "security response" site at Symantec - they may have such a
thing. I'm surprised slashdot doesn't have something similar (given their
distaste for windows - seems a great way to embarrass Redmond...)

Subject: [Am-info] Virus/vulnerabilities announcement list

Is there a mailing list I could subscribe to in order to get a complete
list of viruses and software exploits as soon as they happen?

I'm trying to compile a list of the things a Windows user can expect to be
subjected to and its a pain trawling through various articles trying to
grab this information.

An announcement list would be much simpler if it existed.
