It's beyond a mere "if." The AMD guy actually testified that this happened,
according to the reports. And it wasn't heresay - he was there.
I say again - this was NOT a business deal, it concerned testifying at a
Federal Court. Gates was bound to hang up the phone immediately, not say
"I'll talk to my people," and follow through with calling this [now suspect]
witness. The AMD guy flat out implicated himself when he asked for the
favor. Gates should have dropped him immediately.
In my opinion, this is witness tampering. Any lawyers out there?
I mean, if somebody asks me to be a favorable witness and I say "Give me
100,000 bucks and I'll do it," and the person says "I'll see what I can do
for you," - is that not witness tampering? Did the person not imply that he
would attempt to get what I asked for, or at least try to get something for
me? And does it matter whether he comes through with my request or not? He
stated that he would do something for me in return for my testimony. It
seems as clear as crystal to me.

Again, it's right there in the AMD guy's testimony.
We have to ask, WHAT FAVORS DID GATES DO FOR THE OTHER pro-MICROSOFT
WITNESSES THEY CALLED AND WILL CALL? WHAT PROMISES DID HE GIVE THEM? WHAT
FAVORS DID HE IMPLY FOR THEM? The whole hearing has a cloud of suspicion
over it which can not be removed.

I would issue an immediate order citing Gates for contempt of my Court. Of
course, If I were Judge Jackson, I would have thrown their asses in the
clink as soon as it was discovered that they manufactured and submitted fake
evidence. That's what would have happened to me or any of you here if you
tried to pull such a stunt.
