Looks like microsoft is doing to IT what lawyers did to medicine. Just
make sure you keep the paperwork straight, and to hell with quality and
getting the job done.

"According to the rules of the game today, the only issue is
whether the customer's
record keeping skills are exemplary. If not, Microsoft is paid
-- make that paid again,
           most likely."

That's a disgrace. And then the idiot CIO signs a site license with the
gangsters who are extorting money from them. and they are still being
pressured by m$ to pay yet again for their existing software. What gall.
I suppose the site license is really just protection money. I bet the mob
is envious of Mr. gates' criminal abilities.

Seems Joe agrees with me on the political aspects of anyone taking on m$
under the current administration. ;-)

          'Texas is Bush country
Such bravado may not last. This is still George Bush country,
and Rick Perry is his
handpicked successor as governor. The Bush administration
turned the Department
of Justice into a handmaiden for Gates, and Perry shows no
enthusiasm for
protecting his constituents from the likes of Schrade and
company. A quote from his
office last Friday said Governor Perry "expects all state
agencies to abide by
copyright laws, as well as other laws."'

So it appears that eventually we will all need the m$ft stamp of approval
on our foreheads or else be carted to prison.

Anyway, good article Joe.
