I don't know if I'd consider the X-Box a dud yet. My girlfriend just
bought one... she already owns a PS2, as do I (don't ask). it's a nice
console, and ahead of the Sony in a number of respects (as you'd expect
for a product released a year after it's main competitor).
The reason I point out that I don't believe it's a dud is because the
games are coming for it. The reason my girlfriend caved is because she
kept hearing about Halo and a couple of other games from coworkers and
friends. Eventually, peer pressure won over boyfriend anti-pressure.
My point is just that it's too early to declare the X-Box a dud. Sony
really didn't take off until 6 months after its release, once
manufacturing and game availability improved.
