I think you have forgotten Nelson Rockefeller and his protege, Charles
Gooden, and William Scranton and Senator <mumble> Kuchel of
California.  I will accept that perhaps the last Republican
_president_ not enthralled to corporate interests was Taft (I have
problems calling Taft "progressive"), and Wendell Wilkie perhaps was
the last progressive Republican nominee for president.  But there have
been occasional progressive R's since Wilkie.
