Does anyone know how up-and-up this is? Or are there

Excerpts:
"The charitable foundation created by Microsoft tycoon Bill Gates
unveiled $40 million in grants yesteday to build 70 schools that
combine high school with college in an effort to improve graduation
rates and college attendance for disadvantaged teens. Boston-based
Jobs for the Future was one of eight organizations selected to lead
the nationwide push to create ``early colleges'' - mold-breaking
institutions designed to offer college-level courses to 11th- and
12th-graders, grant high school diplomas and offer two-year
associate's degrees.

"The $40 million fund pool comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Ford Foundation
and W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Seven other agencies will spearhead
the creation of early colleges in the mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest
and Western regions of the nation."
