I'm basing this on my negative experience as a programmer with both my
own programs, and others.  It is perhaps true that a programming god
wrote all the OS/2 apps and they are mysteriously devoid of the
conflicts that plague almost every other program I've seen that uses
multithreading.  But, I somehow doubt it.  It must either be because
they don't use it as much as you'd think, or use it very sparingly.

You can get plenty of increased performance and snappier response (lower
latency) from multiple CPUs without having to have multithreaded
programs.
