What about threads? They were in place from day one - about 15 years ago.

Extended Attributes are nice too, but I don't think they have ever been 
fully exploited by users or developers.

WorkPlace Shell is still a marvellous user interface even though it came 
out ten years ago. Windows is still so primitive in comparison.
