[Am-info] MS IIS disasters

Does anyone know about any Web disasters which are directly attributable 
to running MS IIS instead of a robust and reliable web server?

In the UK the results of the 1901 Census were put online in January and 
the site crashed immediately and has not been unavailable since.

I suspect that it must have been running MS IIS, since the UK govt has 
been brainwashed into using Windows everywhere, but I don't have any 
evidence  in this case. Is there any way I can tell what it was running?
