Sujal,

> Well, we can keep arguing particular categories all we want, but it's
really not that important.

Perhaps not, but I'll still give it another bash:

> I would put Marcus and Erick into category 1 (you're enthusiasts who know
how to make your hardware perform).

If by "perform" you mean "last", I'll give you that one. As for the
"enthusiasts" bit, again perhaps, but it would be coincidental. The main
object of my roll-your-own activities is to end up with a system that I can
trust to not pull the rug out from under me in the middle of a job. The
machine has to earn its -- and more importantly, my -- living. A production
system needs to be reliable first, nimble second. That's why I roll my own.
The few (and they are few, probably only a tiny fraction of the time spent
by most people poring over catalogues and window-shopping) hours spent
looking for, acquiring, and installing reliable parts have repaid themselves
many times over by preventing downtime, keeping my business in the air. If I
sound enthusiatic about my hardware, it's because it has served me well over
the years, not (just) because it can still run rings around more modern
boxes.

> Many Windows users I know that have built their own boxes are gamers, so I
felt that I should mention them specifically.

I trust that was an aside, and wasn't meant to imply that I am using, or
have ever used, WinDOS? <g>
