Sujal,
In my experience there is a third category: knowledgeable, QUALITY-conscious
customers.
I like to build my own systems so that I know what goes into them. These
systems may not look cheaper, but they tend to last much longer than off the
shelf boxes.
My current main system uses a 1-year old CD-rewriter and a 2-year old
CD-reader, a 3-year old main board, 4-year old HDDs, a 5-year old SCSI
controller, a 6-year old operating system, a 7-year old SCSI controller
(yes, another one), probably some 8-year old cables and 9-year old plugs, a
10-year old case and power unit, an 11-year old keyboard, and a 44-year old
user. It will still run rings around any WinDOS machine with twice the
amount of RAM, four times the clock speed, and eight times the HDD capacity.
Oh, and I recently upgraded to a 22" monitor -- without having to upgrade
the video card that I bought with the main board.
But I must admit I don't play games.
Regards,
Marcus de Geus
