Agreed on both counts.  Although I find KDE to be more polished and 
smoother than Gnome, I'm a Gnome/Enlightenment user.  KDE reminded me 
too much of M$.

Yeah, but that's the way you slide it under the existing windows users. 
   My wife liked using kde on my desktop, verses gnome/e.
