You know, that incident with Peter Lewis and David Barnes still haunts me.

Not that Lewis did what he did, but that Gerstner never repudiated the piece.

I now suspect that Gerstner had, by that time, taken a bribe from Microsoft to
agree to "split the market, " ie.,  let Windows have the desktop monopoly and
let OS/2 fade into oblivion.  I now suspect that Gerstner, in fact, planted
and pre-approved the story.

Gerstner was, I believe, on the Board of Directors of the New York Times when
that incident happened.  He could have spoken out in defense of OS/2 and David
Barnes; it was *his company's* product and *his company's* employee that Lewis
creamed.  But he said and did nothing.

I know that David was upset.  David loved OS/2.  He left IBM, but came back
after a year or so.
